We continue our selection with a medium-low range SteelSeries mouse. The Sensei 310 is a mouse designed for both right-handed and left-handed users. How to choose your left-handed gaming mouse?
Having a good mouse to play provides real benefits in terms of response time, dpi, ergonomics or gliding. But when you’re left-handed, it’s sometimes complicated …
The left-handed mouse and the ambidextrous mouse
The shape of the mouse is important in that it will, obviously, influence your grip. Big models should not be used for small hands and vice versa.
Suddenly, a left-handed will obviously not have the same needs in terms of the shape of the mouse, a right-handed, since the buttons must be optimized to be properly placed under the fingers.
The left-handed mouse
The left-handed mouse has the serious advantage, for a gamer, to offer a perfect grip, good ergonomics, and buttons optimized for the game phase.
However, true left-handed mice are extremely rare. And among the handle available on the market, there are still more rarely recent models. In the end, they are only exceptionally gaming-minded because, compared to their right-handed competitors, they often have fewer buttons, less DPI, and lower response time.
Ambidextrous mouse
The ambidextrous mouse is what could be called a neutral mouse, whose design cannot influence the grip in one direction or the other. The challenge, therefore, is to release an ambidextrous mouse that can be specialized in gaming in general or a particular type of game (I think here the usefulness of the “Sniper” buttons for FPS, for example), or which can be perfectly ergonomic (this is impossible since the shape of the mouse cannot match that of the hand).
In addition, we often find, among the so-called ambidextrous mice, almost ambidextrous mice: namely mice offering customizable buttons on the left side, which only right-handed people can actually use with their thumb. In this case, the manufacturers tend to retort that it is a plus for the right-handed ones and that the left-handers will simply do without it, but, in addition to being completely injured, it can turn out to be embarrassing quickly. in the game phase, when we risk to click on it inadvertently.

On the one hand, with a wireless mode, some latency (a delay between the order and the execution) can sometimes be observed, which is very embarrassing in the world of gaming. On the other hand, the investment to avoid, precisely, these latency problems generally have a big financial impact. A good quality wireless mouse will often cost much more than its wired equivalent.
The optical mouse vs the laser mouse
In the optical mouse, a led emits light on a surface and retransmits it to a sensor. This one analyzes the asperities of the surface to calculate the trajectory and to retransmit it on the screen.
In the case of the laser mouse, it is this time a beam that transmits the snapshots of the surface to the sensor. As a result, the pictures are sharper, and the cursor movement much more precise.
The sensor
The sensor offers a certain resolution, usually expressed in the manufacturer’s specifications in DPI (dots per inch) or DPI (Dot Per Inch).
Obviously, the higher the resolution and the more accurate the mouse, because a high number of DPI allows a much faster and marked cursor movement (a small movement is enough).
Nevertheless, left-handed gamers are often harmed on this point. While right-handed gamer mice compete in DPI, offering 12,000 or even 16,000 for some models, it is not uncommon to see left-handed mice spinning around 4000 DPI. Well in practice, unless you practice eSport (and again!), We rarely need as much resolution, but it is still a benefit of right-handers that should be noted.
To obtain a high DPI number, left-handed people will generally have to turn to ambidextrous mice.
The weight
If the mouse is heavy, in intensive use, the wrist will tire quickly.
However, some models have weights, which you can remove or add to the envy so as to maximize your comfort of use depending on the use you make of it (office, gaming, …).
The number of buttons
The average user can sometimes be astonished at the number of buttons offered on a gamer mouse, he who uses only 3 (right click, left click and scroll wheel).
But for the gamer, this number of customizable buttons can make all the difference. He will generally turn to a mouse with 5 to 15 buttons.

Another solution is to turn to older models, which have benefited since their release from lower prices, and which are still of excellent quality. Because, fortunately for our portfolio, in the world of gaming, mice do not evolve as fast as the rest. No risk, therefore, to be with a mouse obsolete one year after its release.
