The Olfactory Pyramid
For the choice of perfume, it is very important to know the functioning of the olfactory pyramid, characterized by three olfactory levels: the top note, the heart note, and the base note.
The top notes are the first to be perceived and are particularly volatile, as they diminish after a few minutes. The heart notes are more persistent and are those that give the fragrance its distinctive character. Make up the central part of the perfume creating the famous “wake“. Wait at least 15 minutes to feel them. The base notes are very persistent and accompany us even when the top and heart notes have diminished. The driest skin quickly absorbs the scent, therefore, an Eau de perfume is preferred, unlike the oily skins on which an Eau de toilette is sufficient to have good intensity. It needs to be sprayed after the shower, as the pores are more open, at 10-20 cm on the skin, in the hottest areas of the body, so as to allow evaporation easily.
